Windows vs Mac OS – Making the Best Decision
There are some people who like Macs better than Windows PCs and the truth is that each OS has distinct advantages. Both OSes undergo constant upgrading and improvements. The most recent version of Mac OS is Lion and Windows users are already looking forward to the release of Windows 8 which isn’t that far away. In this article we are going to compare some of the big reasons that you might prefer Mac OSes to Windows and vice versa.
If you want to use your computer alongside a bunch of external devices you are going to have better options with Windows. For example, if you buy an up to date computer with Windows 7, it’s likely to come equipped with a Blu-ray player, Memory Stick reader or multi-format card readers. Lots of people want to connect their PCs to their televisions and when want to do this with your Mac, you’ll need a special converter. If you have Windows 7 on your computer, though, you can connect the computer to your television pretty easily. This makes it easy to watch any online videos on your television. In general, computers that run Windows are more compatible with external devices than computers with a Mac OS (unless, obviously that device was made by Apple). Many of the most popular products made by Apple today aren’t computers, but iPhones, iPods and iPads. Obviously if you are a Mac user, it’s really easy to connect these devices to your computers. When you are a Mac user, you’ll have free access to the iCloud service and that will make it very easy to sync your computer with your iPad, your iPod and your iPhone. So fans of downloading content directly to their mobile devices will have an easier time keeping everything synced and transferred to their Mac computers. Of course, this is only a benefit if you like to use Apple’s mobile devices. Windows users, on the other hand, generally have a far more difficult time keeping their computers and their mobile devices synced.
Neither system is that much better than the other one, and don’t let anyone tell you so. Back in the past a program only worked with a Windows system or it worked only with a Mac system, so the two systems didn’t have much in common. Having software that will work with either a Mac or a PC, and run devices hooked up to either one, is a big improvement. The new Macs, which you might have, are able to run Windows, and that is a big change. For most computer users, you will be able to do anything you need to do, with either computer, but there are still a few specialized areas, which makes one superior to the other.
You aren’t going to find a 100% accurate answer about whether Mac or Windows is the better operating system. Each OS has its die hard fans, but each OS also has definite advantages. It’s important to give careful consideration to what you need your OS to do, how much you can afford to spend, etc and then choose the OS that best matches those things.
