If you are a large company or the CEO of a group of businesses then you will probably be aware of the climate change levy. If you do not know what the climate change levy is then hopefully I will be able to explain it in simple terms. All companies whether they are large or small consume energy and what the climate change levy is, is a tax that applies to energy consumption that is used by all companies within the United Kingdom. The climate change levy is a great way to police the energy consumption of companies with the more energy intensive companies have to pay a huge amount of tax as a result of increasing our carbon dioxide emissions and increasing our problem of global warming. However, as with all these sorts of taxes there is a way that large energy thirsty companies do not have to be so penalised and that is to obtain a Climate Change Agreement with the governing body DECC. If a Climate Change Agreement can be obtained then the company might be able to get an amazing sixty five percent rebate in the taxes they have had to pay to the Climate Change Levy. Companies such as M&C Energy Group are able to act on behalf of companies that want to get a rebate of the Climate Change Levy and they can take care of all the necessary paper work as well as pursuing the claim for the company. One method of helping is via emissions trading.

You will find quite a bit of dialogue regarding air pollution and how it is harming our world, but not that much talk about soil pollution. Soil pollution is a concern that’s just as serious as air pollution. Since soil pollution is in the ground, it’s not that obvious to detect. Soil could be analyzed for toxins and to what degree are the pollutants present.
When water has been tainted, its run off can cause pollution of the soil. If this takes place, plants are not going to grow well at all and you may not get any flowers or fruit production. Many of the foods we eat have been impacted by pollution in the soil and are not very healthy to eat. With the shortage of healthy plants to extract the carbon monoxide from the air, the quality of our air will continue to become worse. Virtually all soil pollution has come about because of the neglect or error of humans. What has happened is leaky storage tanks filled with various chemicals are buried in the ground thus leaking dangerous chemicals into the soil. Quite often, anything able to grow is destroyed, and nothing is grown there for a long period.
Chemicals enter the soil from a variety of sources, such as landfills. For many years, waste would be dumped with wild abandon and no concern for the possible health implications. With rainwater or snow, the water could flush any number of chemicals in to the ground. This would be bad enough if it remained there, but underground the water can flow anywhere, taking the chemical contaminants with it. Nowadays, a lot of modern landfills are built to prevent chemicals from leaking into the ground and restricting certain garbage from being dumped there.
The use of pesticides and the side effects on soil and wildlife have been documented. A number of environmental groups are lobbying the government to safeguard the soil from hazardous chemicals. But recently, lots of farmers are going organic and government has enforced tough guidelines for selected pesticides. Companies have had to make changes, including using more things that are naturally degradable. The US has the biggest soil pollution trouble in the world. Breakthroughs in technology and disregard for the environment are the reasons of the polluted soil.
With more education, folks are starting to be more aware of soil pollution, and several things are being done about it. Many programs across the nation are trying to find ways to minimize the soil pollution. It’s great that most people are now into organic gardening, and being more mindful about their health.

Olympics minister Hugh Robertson has described demands for immediate transparency over sales of tickets for the London 2012 Games as ‘unreasonable’.
Robertson, speaking on the second day of the Track World Cup cycling event at the Olympic Velodrome, expressed surprise at the London Assembly’s demand to lift a perceived secrecy over the sale of tickets for the Olympics, which open on July 27.

Uppingham School
The central element in the life of Uppingham School is the classroom curriculum, but, unlike many other schools, Uppingham focuses unashamedly on the “total curriculum”.
This is our term for the total educational experience of being a pupil at a genuinely seven-day-a-week boarding school. Our goal has been, for at least a century and a half, to focus upon the development of the “whole person”
